You Can't Get "Hear" to There:
Tom Tom Has Problems

How many other Tom Tom GPS owners across the U.S. (maybe the globe) are scratching their heads, maybe missing exits or important turns as they strain to hear instructions from static-filled, stuttering computer-generated voices?

Our 720 caused all kinds of problems on a recent trip to a new address in Queens, New York. I sent in a trouble ticket to Tom Tom and got this response:

We are aware of an issue with the computer voices since our newest application was released. We are diligently working towards a solution for this which will be released in a future program application update. Regrettably, we do not have an estimated timeframe for this correction. Please allow us to apologize for any inconvenience that this situation may have caused."

Earlier last Fall the Tom Tom alternative bracket holding our device literally came apart. All four miniscule screws (set at four corners of the male connector) came out. The part does not rotate so how all four could come loose defies explanation. It took months to get the problem fixed. They claimed it had never happened before.

So, for the holidays when we decided to get GPS for all three of our kids we bought three Garmins.

Tom Tom's latest gaffe underscored the wisdom of our Garmin decision. Hear, Hear!
